Infonaut to Present at 2007 Local, State and Federal Public Health Preparedness Summit in Washington, DC.
Friday, December 29th, 2006Infonaut are pleased to announce that our CEO, Niall Wallace, will be leading a workshop on Public Health Preparedness and Response: A GIS Perspective at the 2007 Local, State and Federal Public Health Preparedness Summit in Washington DC from Feb 19 to 23, 2007. This annual summit is hosted by the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO) in the US.
In an event that is co-sponsored by ESRI USA, Niall will be specifically focussing on a geomatic perspective to the post-SARS response in Ontario, Canada. Since 2003, Infonaut has been closely linked to a number of public health driven initiatives, including massive system transformation, improved monitoring/response, and ubiquitous GIS for a Common Operating Picture (COP). He will be providing unique and proven insights into how GIS has been successful in Ontario and how those lessons can be practically applied by local public health professionals. An important part of this workshop will be the introduction of scenarios based on Infonaut’s web-based mapping tools, built on ESRI technology, which offer an easy-to-use GIS platform specifically designed for a management and non-expert user-base.
ESRI USA will also provide participants with a first hand look at several geographic information systems, including a situational awareness / trauma management system for emergency response. Learning from the real-life experience of public health emergencies such as the SARS outbreak, presenters will share their thoughts and expertise on current systems, and ways to use GIS to improve public health practice.
NACCHO is the national organization representing local health departments. NACCHO works to support efforts that protect and improve the health of all people and all communities by promoting national policy, developing resources and programs, seeking health equity and supporting effective local public health practice and systems.
ESRI designs and develops the world’s leading geographic information system (GIS) technology. GIS is an important tool—one that helps shape the world around us.
